This year the day dedicated to love falls on a Friday which means there are a myriad of events happening both before and during the weekend. From shopping events to Galentine’s Day celebrations and chocolate tastings there are plenty of things to choose from. Sour Duck Farmer’s Market on Sunday, Feb. 9, 9 a.m.-3 p.m., located at 1814 E. Valentine’s Day Evening Events
Valentine’s Date Night on Lake Austin on Friday, Feb. 14, 6-11:30 p.m. at Mozart’s Coffee Roasters. With the backdrop of Lake Austin providing the ambience, Mozart’s is transforming its lakeside deck into a candlelit romantic oasis featuring a three-course dessert tasting. A specially selected coffee pairing is included with each course. Live music by Sarah Hall and Chloe Youtsey too. Tickets are required to attend the event.
Bob Schneider & the Moonlight Orchestra on Friday, Feb. 14, 8 p.m. at Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater. Spend a romantic evening with your sweetie and Bob Schneider. This Austin-based musician’s Valentine’s Day concert will feature a wide range of classic love songs in addition to a host of favorites from Bob’s special songbook. For a truly magical evening Bob will be accompanied by the Moonlight Orchestra featuring the Tosca Strings with special guests Lex Land and Ian Flanigan. Tickets for the performance are still available.
Beer My Valentine on Friday, Feb. 14, 6-10 p.m. at Independence Brewing Company. To make this event extra special Independence Brewing Company has teamed up with local distillers Garrison Brothers for a celebration of love for everyone. It features free bourbon tastings, a limited-edition beer bottle release and two for one beer specials. But that’s not all. Grab your favorite dance partner and learn how to scoot your boots with two-step dance lessons and live music by Rey Mountain Revelry. The event is free and open to the public unless you want to purchase a Beer My Valentine Kit to commemorate the evening.
For the Kids
Peter Pan at the Georgetown Palace Theatre from January 31-March 1. The entire family will enjoy this musical version of the play by Sir J.M. Barrie. The story follows the experiences of a young boy who refuses to grow up and his adventures in never-never land with the Darling children. Times and dates vary. The 2020 Faerie Tea Parties on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 1-2 and Saturday, Feb. 22 at Zilker Park Botanical Gardens, 2220 Barton Springs, times vary. Celebrate the joys of spring with the folks at Zilker Park and help them welcome the garden faeries. To attend you’ll have dress in your faerie best. The event includes light refreshments, a faerie sightings walk through the gardens and a plant to take home. Registration is required and available at austintexas.gov/parksonline.
Austin Cave Festival on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Don’t be in the dark. Instead spend the day discovering and learning a ton of fascinating facts about caves. You’ll meet cave scientists, climb through the Wildflower Cave, and learn about cave animals and how to protect water resources. Plus live music, an art exhibit and puppet shows.
