If you’re looking for some fun and feeling groooovvvveeeyyyy mark your calendar for Saturday, May 2. You’ll have fun, fun, fun, in the neighborhood during this year’s fifth annual TravissoFest. It’s happening from 1-6 p.m. at the Palazzo, 2437 Travisso Parkway in the master-planned community of Travisso in Leander. All are invited to join this family-friendly community for a blast into the past celebrating the 70s.
Food, live music, and awesome family fun for everyone! Don’t forget to invite your friends and neighbors. We’ll even let you wear your bell bottoms. And there just may be some disco music in the air too. The event is free and open to the public.
70s Fun Facts
We’ll take you on a trip down memory lane with this year’s 70s theme. A decade in history where Americans celebrated Earth Day for the first time and Congress passed the National Environmental Policy Act. It was also a time where personal style was starting to take shape. Fashionistas wore flowing maxi dresses, ponchos, and frayed jeans. Tie-dye clothing from the 60s was still in vogue while trendy plaid became the fabric of choice and could be seen on shirts and skirts and everything else in between.
Musical influencers such as the Bee Gees, Donna Summer and Marvin Gaye introduced disco. Whereas, bands like the Rolling Stones, Van Halen, Pink Floyd and Queen took rock music to another level. Though 8-track tapes originated in the late 60s their usefulness only lasted a few short years thereafter. They became a thing of the past in 1975.
