And to help you celebrate and get you in the Christmas mood we’re hosting a multitude of family-friendly holiday happenings and activities. Holiday Happenings at Travisso
Letters to Santa Drop-off Mailbox from Monday, November 23 to Friday, December 4. Santa’s mailbox is getting full but it’s not too late to drop off your wish list in time for Christmas. Santa has a special mailbox located in the foyer of the Palazzo. All letters will be sent directly to the North Pole. Please include your return address so that Santa can write back.
Tree Lighting and Story Time with Mrs. Claus on Friday, Dec. 4, 5:30-7 p.m. Due to changing circumstances Travisso’s Tree Lighting will take place virtually this year. Travisso residents can join the fun on the Community Facebook page. During the event the Little Sunshine Group will lead carols while Mrs. Claus lights the Palazzo tree. Story time with Mrs. Claus follows. To make it festive hot cocoa kits are available for pick up from the Palazzo beginning Tuesday, December 1 at 10 a.m.
Holiday Hustle Step Challenge starts Friday, Dec. 4. Don’t let all those holiday goodies add up to extra calories. Travisso’s Holiday Hustle is a 6,000 steps a day challenge that takes place from Friday, Dec. 4 to Jan. 1. If you meet the challenge of 6K steps a day, you’ll be entered into a raffle to win one of 2 gift cards worth $100 a piece. To qualify, participants should have their steps synched by Sunday, Jan. 3. Winners of the raffle will be announced on Monday, Jan. 4.
More Holiday Happenings
Holiday Light Contest from Dec. 11 to Dec. 16. If you like to decorate like the Griswold’s show us your stuff. Decorate your home then send in a photo of your creation. All entries are due Friday, Dec. 11. Voting begins on Monday, Dec. 14 and ends at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16. Winners will be announced on Dec. 16 at 5 p.m. There are four categories in which to enter.
Travisso’s Trail of Lights: Candy Land takes place on Friday Dec. 11-Sunday, Dec. 13, 5:30-9:30 p.m. During Travisso’s Trail of Lights view decorated homes then vote for your favorite. The “People’s Choice” award will be presented to the home with the most votes.
A Very Merry Parade takes place on Saturday, Dec. 12, 10 a.m.-noon. The Travisso community is planning a parade and you’re invited to join us. We’re looking for participants that have a cool car or golf cart to drive in the parade. If you would like to participate please sign up at the Palazzo or by going to the Travisso Community Facebook page. We will meet in the Palazzo parking lot from 8-10 a.m. the day of the event to decorate.
Clubs
Travisso Book Club meets on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 3:00 p.m. All Travisso residents are welcome to zoom in for a discussion of Michelle McNamara’s book I’ll be Gone in the Dark. This book follows one woman’s relentless search for the Golden State Killer. The 2021 Book Club list is coming soon so stay tuned.
Ladies’ Coffee meets on Thursday, Dec. 3 from 9-11 a.m. Brew your favorite cup of coffee then settle in for two hours of friendly chats and laughter with your neighbors. In 2021 this group is expanding. It’ll meet on both the first and third Thursday mornings of each month. The group meets virtually.
Travisso Adventure Club meets Saturday, Dec. 5 from 1-2 p.m. If you’re ready for an adventure that few Texans have explored then this is the hike for you. This month the group will take a short one-hour hike along the San Gabriel river bed to view the Leander Dinosaur Tracks. The footprints lie a half mile west from the HWY 183 bridge that crosses the South Fork of the river. The group will meet in the parking lot between 183 North and South.
December Food Truck Schedule
El Buen Sason Taco Truck will be on-site Tuesday, Dec. 8, 5-7 p.m. in the Palazzo parking lot. Celebrate Taco Tuesday at Travisso. It’s definitely one meal almost everyone can agree on. But what’s even better is when you can pick it up all ready to go. El Buen Sason’s menu includes a variety of mouth-watering, delicious tacos, quesadillas and condiments. Don’t forget to plan ahead and order early.
ATX Asian Food Truck is taking orders for Thursday, Dec. 10, 5-7 p.m. With over 15 years of experience ATX Asian is no stranger to the Austin area. This popular food truck prepares a variety of tasty comfort dishes like Crispy Orange Chicken, Beef & Broccoli and Sweet and Sour Chicken. They also serve a variety of sides such as fried rice and lo mein. Pick up is in the Palazzo parking lot.
Via 313 Pizza is visiting Travisso on Tuesday, Dec. 15 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Palazzo parking lot. This delicious Detroit style pizza has quite a following in the Austin area. Mark your calendar and order early.
Redfin Seafood Mobile Kitchen will be in the Travisso Community on Thursday, Dec. 17 from 5-7 p.m. in the Palazzo parking lot. To get a taste of Louisiana in Texas Redfin will be serving Creole style gumbo, po’boys and more.
