Candice Roy, Travisso’s lifestyle director, was recently presented with a prestigious 2019 MAX Award for Lifestyle Director of the Year. The winning moment came during the Home Builders Association of Greater Texas’ annual award night. The event recognizes the industry’s excellence in sales and marketing and is one of the association’s highest honors.
Just shy of hitting the two year mark in her role at Travisso, Candice has been winning accolades. Last year she was nationally recognized by the HBA and was the recipient of a Silver Award for Best Lifestyle Director in the nation. As the master-planned community’s only on-site lifestyle director, Candice is instrumental in providing residents with hours of fun and relaxation. Her position falls under the helm of the community’s Homeowner’s Association located in the Palazzo. As the chief organizer of socialization she creates numerous weekly and monthly events, fitness classes, and educational seminars mostly from the ground up. She uses her 11 years of industry experience as the foundation for unique programs and classes. As a result, Candice has taken Travisso’s lifestyle program to a new level. Under her direction in 2018 Travisso residents were able to attend 271 classes, 51 clubs meetings, and 74 social events.
Tailor-made lifestyle programs and clubs
In her first year as director Candice says her goal was to lay the groundwork for unique and active programs and clubs tailored to Travisso residents. Many of this year’s new programs and clubs have sprouted from ideas and passions from the residents themselves. Which translates into more opportunities for fun and socializing. She says she is always open to suggestions. “Residents tell me what they would like to see at the Palazzo and we make it happen.” So much so that the number of clubs have tripled in the last year. “I love it; I’m happy to help coordinate and plan however I can.” she said delightfully. A few of the clubs like the Empty Nesters Club and the Coffee Club are extremely popular. According to Roy, both have produced a couple of spinoffs. A trend, she hopes will continue.
Unique children programs and special events
From gardening to cooking to crafting, playing cards, fitness classes, and exploring wineries there’s something for everyone. Children classes and special events are also a huge hit. After school and weekend events like FRI-YAY, Let’s Flamingle, and Make Your Own Pizza Party take advantage of the Palazzo’s resort-style pool, pavilion, and kitchen facilities. Over the last year residents say she has organized some very memorable family events. Her absolute favorite was the 4th of July Birthday Breakfast. She attributes its overwhelming success to the large crowd and those Travisso residents that brought their visiting relatives. “It is always heartwarming to see residents bring their extended family members to one of our events,” she said with further explanation. “This way it takes the responsibility of entertaining off of the resident and gives them the opportunity to enjoy their family time and create lasting memories.”
According to Candice her position isn’t a one-size-fits-all. Her responsibilities are as varied as her skills. In addition, she also manages bookings for the Palazzo and the community’s communications including all HOA social media outlets. When creating and implementing programs looking forward to the future has been a recipe for her success. “I like to look at how I can help the residents and offer a value-added service to the Travisso lifestyle.”
