Online Fitness Training
Experts agree that the number one fitness trend for 2021 is online training. According to an annual survey conducted by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) online training was listed as number 26 on last year’s list. Now with its coveted #1 ranking, online training and its range and variety of digital streaming offerings isn’t going away anytime soon. It’s the method of choice to stay fit in 2021. The possibilities and programs are endless.
For example, Camp Gladiator Live is one of many online programs available to home exercisers. This online group fitness program incorporates both cardio and strength training into a one-hour full-body workout. A certified personal trainer leads each session. And, no two sessions are the same. Travisso residents can enjoy the month of January for free. Choose from over 2,500+ live workouts from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. from your own home and at your own pace.
The Great Outdoors
Sunshine and fresh air does the body good. For those working at home during the pandemic walking, running, biking and hiking became ways to take a break and get out of the house. These popular activities are also excellent ways for families to get out and about and spend time together safely. In 2021 the trend to exercise outdoors will continue including group classes. Other ways to stay active outdoors include golf, tennis, canoeing, kayaking, paddling and swimming.
Body Weight Fitness Training
This highly effective form of exercise uses little to no equipment with maximum results. By definition it is strength training that utilizes an individual’s own body weight and gravity to strengthen muscles. With convenience and little to no expense being the top draws to body weight training, let’s not forget that it’s a terrific workout that builds muscle and burns fat. It also helps to increase balance and flexibility. What more could you want? To create your own routine check out “The Best Bodyweight Exercises You Can Do Anywhere,” from Runner’s World. High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
The driving force behind HIIT is to burn about the same amount of calories while spending less time doing it. As a result workouts are created to provide short bursts of high intensity exercise that are followed by a recovery period. For example, 30 seconds of jumping jacks is followed by a 10 second rest. Most HIIT workouts combine a variety of cardio and strength training exercises that are performed sequentially for 10 to 20 minutes to help burn body fat and gain lean muscle.
Free Weight Fitness Training
Yes, free weight training has been around forever. But that doesn’t necessarily mean we all do it. However, with that said, it’s a one of the best ways to strengthen muscles. Professional athletes and weekend warrior bike riders, runners and triathletes use it to increase performance. You can do a free weight routine at home. Sets come in a variety of sizes and weights. Local chain sport stores and online retailers offer a multitude of sets for the beginner to the advanced. If you’re just starting out it’s best to thread on the lighter side. Experts recommend lifting free weights two times a week for beginners Three times a week is ideal to strengthen and grow muscles.
