Eggtastic Ways with Eggs for Spring

Eggs don’t have to be edible to be incredible. Eggs in any form are a great way to celebrate spring. Of course, the most preferred way is to eat them. And, oh there are so many ways. But, there are also so many creative ways to use them to decorate your home during spring. In this case, however, you’ll have to turn to the decorative varieties such as glass, ceramic, or even paper.

First, let me cover a few ways you can make and eat them. By far, the best way to make and serve eggs is deviled. No springtime celebration is complete without deviled eggs on your Travisso table. What’s even better is that there is more than one way to make them. There’s always the classic deviled egg recipe. This year, though, give your guests a mouth-watering experience by serving a few variations of this springtime tradition.

Here, in Texas, you’ll find that smoked beef brisket takes center stage for Easter dinner. If you are new here or just haven’t been here long enough to know we add guacamole, bacon, jalapenos, chipotle, and pimiento cheese to just about everything. Maybe, that’s an exaggeration but it sure seems like it. So, for an Easter dinner fit for a Texan complement your brisket with these deviled egg variations: Guacamole, Bacon Jalapeno, Chipotle Deviled Eggs, and even Pimiento Cheese. Check out the recipes here in addition to other tasty combinations. Dress them up and make them pretty by adding sprigs of fresh herbs such as dill and chives. Serve them on white or pastel plates for a show stopping presentation.

Or, start your springtime celebration with a savory quiche or spring frittata. There’s plenty of options. Make your egg dishes shine with fresh asparagus, spinach or zucchini then add a variety of fresh herbs. Check out this list of frittata and quiche recipes great for any celebration.

Colorful displays using eggs

You can spruce up your Easter table with decorations using eggs as the focal point. Decorating your Easter table doesn’t have to be time consuming or costly. You can use the real deal or use decorative varieties such as glass, ceramic, or those made of papier-mâché.

If you want to use the real deal colored eggs is the way to go. Coloring eggs is a family tradition in my family and a great activity to do with kids, and they love it. Every Easter I couldn’t wait to dip hard-boiled eggs into pastel colors to make pretty rainbow combinations. Then, we put them in a bowl and served them for dinner. For a simple decoration instead of using a bowl, put them in a wired basket and line it with a colorful floral napkin. Buy more than one basket and spread them throughout your table. But, if you want a new idea on how to color eggs here’s a great way to create beautiful color combinations using ties (for decoration only). Check it out here.

To create additional décor and save money look through your cabinets for containers that you may already have. Baskets, three-tier dessert plates, platters, glass containers, jars, and vases can all be used as bases for your centerpieces. Or, buy several glass jars in varying sizes and fill them with decorative eggs from a local craft store and top with floral sprigs. You can also purchase decorative bird nests and robin’s eggs for a rustic more natural look. But, for a truly special tablescape add votive candles, candlesticks or lanterns in colors that coordinate with your table linens. Use your imagination and remember inspiration is everywhere.
