August at Travisso: Back-to-School Beginnings
As summer begins to wind down and the school year gets underway, August brings a fresh rhythm to life at Travisso. Even during this new busy season, Travisso continues to offer residents meaningful ways to slow down, connect with neighbors, and enjoy the community they call home.
From live music and whiskey tastings to a creative candle-making workshop, August gave residents a chance to make new memories, destress, and reconnect before turning the calendar to another exciting month.
Barrel & Blues
Barrel & Blues brought together smooth whiskey, live music, and great company for a memorable evening at Travisso. Residents had the opportunity to step away from their weekday routines, enjoy the sounds of live blues, and spend time catching up with friends and neighbors.
As families adjusted to early mornings, school schedules, and extracurricular activities, the event offered a welcome opportunity to unwind. It was an evening centered on good music, relaxed conversation, and the connections that make the Travisso community so special.
Glow & Gather Candle-Making Workshop
August also gave residents a chance to tap into their creativity during the Glow & Gather Candle-Making Workshop. Neighbors came together for a hands-on experience, creating personalized candles while enjoying conversation and time with the community.
The workshop provided a peaceful break from the excitement of the back-to-school season and encouraged residents to try something new. In addition to leaving with a custom candle, participants took home memories of a warm and welcoming evening spent with neighbors.
Look Ahead: September at Travisso
With the first weeks of school behind us and new routines beginning to feel more familiar, September brings even more ways for Travisso residents to gather. An exciting showcase of standout vehicles and an inclusive storytime experience for young readers, just to name a few. The month ahead offers something for residents of all ages!
Travisso Cruise-In
Saturday, September 19
6:00 – 8:00 PM
Rev up your weekend nights at the Travisso Cruise-In! We will welcome an exciting lineup of cars, trucks, and Jeeps for an evening filled with live music and community fun.
Residents can check out everything from classic and muscle cars to imports and European and exotic rides, grab a bite from the food truck, and enjoy live music by Jazz Daddies. Whether you are a longtime car enthusiast or simply looking for a fun way to spend the evening with family and neighbors, the Cruise-In promises plenty to see and enjoy.
Think you have a ride worth showing off? Bring it out for a chance to earn one of the evening’s Cruise-In awards, including Best Classic, Best Muscle, Best Import, Best European/Exotic, Best Truck/Jeep, and Best Overall.
Space for participating vehicles is limited, so be sure to register in advance. Car competition registration closes Monday, September 14.
Stories & Signs: ASL Storytime

Young residents can continue the spirit of back-to-school learning at Stories & Signs, a fun and unique storytime experience with local children’s book author Karlie Waldrip.
Children will virtually meet Rhett the Heeler, Karlie’s beloved deaf dog, through videos before diving into I Deaf-initely Can: Rhett the Heeler. Karlie will bring Rhett’s heartwarming adventures to life through spoken English and American Sign Language, giving participants a fun introduction to ASL while exploring themes of kindness, inclusion, and communication.
The event will also include a Q&A with Karlie and plenty of opportunities for children to learn and participate. Come ready to listen, explore, and experience storytime in a whole new way. Space is limited, so residents are encouraged to RSVP early.
