Family Spring Break Destinations Close To Texas

When you already live in a robust area like the Greater Austin Metro,  it can be overwhelming to decide what to do with your family for Spring Break. After all, Austin gets 300 days of sunshine a year and is already known as one of the most unique Texas cities.

But after two years of the COVID-19 pandemic canceling travel plans, maybe your family is looking to get out of town this Spring Break. There are several great Spring Break destinations just a road trip or relatively short flight away that you may not have thought of visiting before the pandemic. With that being said, let’s look into some of the best Spring Break ideas for your family.

1. Charleston, South Carolina

If you’re looking to step back in time while also availing yourself of the beach, Charleston, South Carolina is one of the best possible destinations. Continuously cited as one of the most hospitable cities globally,  Charleston is home to beautiful architecture, great food, and amazing history. You can take a carriage ride around the city, learn about pirates along the Battery, or visit one of its many museums. For that matter, if you’d like to take a dip, Folly Beach is waiting for you!

2. New Orleans, Louisiana

If you’d like to experience old-school southern culture with a French flair, the Big Easy could be perfect for your family! You may not initially think of New Orleans as one of the top family-friendly cities in the country, but there’s actually a lot for families to enjoy together there. You and your family can try Creole food together, explore the French Quarter and jazz, and even ride aboard the Steamboat Natchez! New Orleans is also a great place for families looking to drive to their destination. From Leander, it’s about an 8-hour drive.

4. Carlsbad Caverns National Park, New Mexico

If you’d like to experience some natural beauty over Spring Break, try Carlsbad Caverns National Park. You can enjoy amazing desert landscapes and some of the most remarkable underground caves in the world.
