Just in time for the holidays Vintage Market Days, a traveling shopping extravaganza for all things vintage, is making the rounds in Texas. Are you looking for one-of-a-kinds and upscale vintage finds for your new Travisso home? Or, for holiday gifts for that special someone? Well, if you missed this past weekend’s “Hello Fall” event in Austin, there’s still other opportunities to attend in the state. You might have to travel a little farther but it’s a great excuse for a girl’s trip. So, pack up the car with your gal pals and discover Vintage Market Days in either Nacogdoches or Kerrville.
If you truly want to make it a day trip attend the Vintage Market Days “Back Roads Dreamer” event November 3-5 in Nacogdoches at the Nacogdoches County Exposition & Civic Center. Or, just a little closer to Austin is “Christmas on the Farm” November 10-12 in Kerrville at the Hill Country Youth Event Center.
What you’ll discover at Vintage Market Days
First, know that Vintage Market Days is not a flea market. It’s a vintage lover’s dream with over 80 vendors selling their wares from all over the country. And, there is something for everyone. Yes, there are some second-hand goods but there are a lot of handmade originals that sets it apart from a flea market. Each market is different. You’ll never know just what unique one-of-a-kind you’ll find. From art to antiques, handmade soaps, to furniture, decor and so much more. And, the more in this case is jewelry, clothing, seasonal decorations, and repurposed salvaged architectural finds for your family and friends this holiday season.
In addition to vintage products most of the markets feature a variety of vendors selling non-vintage wares and products. One such vendor is Texas Sweet Tees, a specialty clothing emporium featuring really cute t-shirts. They also carry a line of comfy long sleeve shirts, scarves and hats. Candles, coffee mugs and gift certificates perfect for gifting complete their product line. And, Mad Dash Mixes, makes life in the kitchen easier. This business from Celburn Texas sells a variety of soup, dip, dessert, and meat seasoning mixes for delicious quick nightly meals. For art lovers at Austin’s “Hello Fall” event, Texas artist, Mary Gregory featured a line of handmade note cards, towels, and original artwork.
Or, for handmade signs, furniture, and upholstered headboards visit Lolly and June. And, for those that don’t have a green thumb visit Forever Green Art out of Bentonville, Arkansas. This vendor crafts natural floral arrangement that do not need sun, soil, or water to survive and are maintenance free.
Event logistics and more information
The events are usually weekend affairs and run Friday through Sunday. You can also make a day of it. On-site food trucks and live music are available daily. There is also an admission fee. A $10 admission fee is good for all three days. If you go on Friday, get your hand stamped and come back for free on the other two days. If you are only attending one day, the admission fee is $5. Times and dates vary depending on the location.
